It’s been a little while since I last posted here, thanks to both the Winter break for MotoGP (Summer down here in Australia) and my late decision to take a break from writing in December and early January. While I could have been keeping up with some of the other news sites and blogs in the industry, the idea of posting about rider’s new helmet contracts and repeating the same Marc Marquez interview from the Valencia test indefinitely didn’t seem particularly interesting, and so I decided to take a bit of time off from writing to rest and recover from a lengthy 2022 season.
The good news is: we’re back, baby! 2023 pre-season kicks off in the coming weeks, and I’m already feeling the wave of excitement that comes before every new MotoGP championship. Looking at the line-ups for all the different classes, thinking about who I expect to be strongest out of the gates, fantasising about great racing and awesome battles – the off-season has clearly taken it’s toll, so it’s time to get back into the swing of things.
The first question that springs to mind is: what is SolomonTalksBikes going to look like in 2023? For starters, the upload schedule is going to be a lot more rigorous and a lot more consistent. Starting next week, you can expect uploads here every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, as I aim to cover everything of relevance to the sport and keep the excitement and momentum rolling. This isn’t to say there won’t ever be articles coming out on other days, but rather a promise from me that things are going to be nice and predictable in 2023.
As always, there will be previews and reviews coming out before and after each race weekend. Previews for the Grand Prix will release every Friday morning before the start of a race weekend, while the reviews of all the action will release the following Monday. As with previous seasons, I’ll be looking at the circuits themselves, historical winners and losers, and touching on any news topics that could shape a given weekend or the season at large. You won’t want to miss these if you’re keen on the inside scoop into MotoGP!
Then there’s the podcast. The SolomonTalksBikes podcast is returning with a bang in 2023 with season two starting next week, and new episodes will be coming out every Wednesday. As with last year, my co-host Charlie and I will be diving deep into the news topics of the week, breaking down each race weekend in detail and making ridiculous claims and predictions for the sport we love. It will be as informative as it is silly & fun, so keep an ear out for the first episode set to release on January 25th.
That’s not all you have to look forward to from the blog in 2023 – I’ll be filling in the blanks with plenty of interviews, deep dives and opinion pieces about the talking points of MotoGP this year. On top of that, there’s a whole pre-season ahead of us, so I’ll be reviewing my rider ratings from last year, previewing each of the 3 championships (maybe even MotoE if I find time!) and getting you all on board the hype train as it rolls towards Portimao and the first race of the season.
With all of that content coming up, you’re not going to want to miss a second of it, so how can you keep up? First of all, consider taking out a free subscription to the blog – this will give you email updates any time a new article comes out. Social media is also an excellent place to follow along, and you can find my content over on Facebook (@solomontalksbikes) and Twitter (@soltalksbikes). If you’re a podcast fan in particular, look no further – the SolomonTalksBikes podcast can be found on Spotify, Google Podcasts and Apple Podcasts. Just search us up by name!
There’s so much to look forward to in 2023 in MotoGP, and I’m very excited to get started covering every bit of it, so strap yourselves in and get ready for the ride!
